Inspection

  1. 1
    Inspect lining of the clutch disc for signs of slipping or oil. Replace it if it is burned black or oil soaked.
    Inspecting the clutch disc lining for slipping or oil, held by hand against the flywheel.

    Measure the clutch disc thickness.
    Measuring the clutch disc thickness with a caliper/micrometer.

    Check for loose rubber torsion dampers. Replace the clutch disc if any are loose.
  4. 4
    Measure the depth from the lining surface to the rivets, on both sides.
    Measuring the depth from the clutch disc lining surface to the rivets on both sides with a depth gauge; the rubber torsion dampers are checked for looseness.

    Measure the clutch plate runout with the mainshaft and a dial indicator.
