Inspection

WARNING

Do not use an air hose to blow the brake assembly clean. Use the vacuum cleaner, to avoid breathing brake dust.

CAUTION

- Do not spill brake fluid on the car; it may damage the paint; if brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water. - To prevent spills, cover the hose joints with rags or shop towels. - Clean all parts in brake fluid and air dry; blow out all passages with compressed air.

- Before reassembling, check that all parts are free of dust and other foreign particles. - Replace parts with new ones whenever specified to do so. - Make sure no dirt or other foreign matter is allowed to contaminate the brake fluid. - Do not mix different brands of brake fluid as they may not be compatible. - Do not reuse the drained fluid.

NOTE

- Coat piston, piston seal, and caliper bore with clean brake fluid. - Replace all rubber parts with new ones whenever disassembled.

PARKING NUT	10 x 1.25 mm, 28 N·m (2.8 kg-m, 20 lb-ft)

CAM BOOT	Replace. (Rubber grease)

8 mm FLANGE BOLT	8 x 1.0 mm, 23 N·m (2.3 kg, 16 lb-ft)

PIN BOOT	Check for deterioration or damage.
CALIPER BRACKET	Check for cracks. 8 mm FLANGE BOLT 8 x 1.0 mm 23 N·m (2.3 kg-m, 16 lb-ft); 10 x 1.25 mm 39 N·m (3.9 kg-m, 28 lb-ft)
PAD SPRING	Check for wear or damage.
ROD	—
O-RING	Replace. (Rubber grease)
CUP	Replace.
ADJUSTING SPRING B	Check for weakness.
SPRING COVER	Check for damage.
BLEED SCREW	9 N·m (0.9 kg-m, 7 lb-ft)
CALIPER BODY	Check for scoring on cylinder wall.
SLEEVE PISTON	Check for wear or damage.
ADJUSTING BOLT	Check for wear or damage.
BEARING A	Check for damage.
SPACER	—
RETAINING RING	—
PISTON SEAL	Replace. (Rubber grease)
PISTON ASSEMBLY	Check for scoring on the surface.
