Measure the clearance between the pulley and pressure plate all the way around. If the clearance is not within specified limits, the pressure plate must be removed and shims added or removed as required.

0.4-0.6 mm (0.016-0.024 in)

Clutch Overhaul

  1. 1
    Remove the center bolt and washers.
    Removal of the center bolt and washers from the compressor clutch pressure plate. Leader line points to the center bolt at top center.
  2. 2
    Remove the pressure plate and shim(s) taking care not to lose the shims.
    Removal of the pressure plate and shim(s) from the compressor clutch pulley; pressure plate lifted off with shim(s) between it and the pulley.
