Engine oil capacities differ between SOHC (D16A6/A7) and DOHC (D16A8/A9) 1.6 L engines.

Engine Oil Level Inspection

    Check engine oil with the engine off and the car parked on level ground.
  2. 2
    Make certain that the oil level indicated on the dipstick is between the upper and lower marks.

    If the level has dropped close to the lower mark, add oil until it reaches the upper mark.

Engine Oil Replacement

  1. 1
    Warm up the engine.
  2. 2
    Drain the engine oil.
    Remove the filler cap to speed draining.
    OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG: 45 N·m (4.5 kg-m, 33 lb-ft)

    Reinstall the drain plug with a new washer, and refill with the recommended oil.
    Recommended Engine Oil (SE or SF Grade only) viscosity chart: single-grade (10W, 20W, 20, 30, 40) and multi-grade (20W-40/20W-50, 15W-40/15W-50, 10W-40, 10W-30, 5W-30, 5W-20) bars plotted against the expected ambient temperature before the next oil change in degC and degF.
