P/S Pump Belt Adjustment / A/C Compressor Belt Adjustment

5-7prose procedure

P/S adjust-bolt close-up figure is specific to the KQ model. Procedures apply to vehicles with power steering and A/C.

P/S Pump Belt Adjustment

  1. 1
Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lb) and measure the deflection, between the P/S pump pulley and the crankshaft pulley. Deflection: 9-12 mm (0.35-0.47 in.).
On a brand-new belt, the deflection should be 7-10 mm (0.28-0.39 in.) when first measured.

  2. 2
Loosen the P/S adjust pulley bolt.
  3. 3
Turn the adjust nut to get the proper belt tension, then retighten the bolt and nut.

  4. 4
Recheck the deflection of the belt.

A/C Compressor Belt Adjustment

  1. 1
Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lb) and measure the deflection, between the A/C compressor adjusting pulley and the crankshaft pulley. Deflection: 9-11 mm (0.35-0.43 in.).
On a brand-new belt, the deflection should be 7-9 mm (0.28-0.35 in.) when first measured.

  2. 2
    Loosen the adjust pulley nut.
  3. 3
Turn the adjust bolt to get the proper belt tension, then retighten the bolt and nut.
  4. 4
Recheck the deflection of the belt.
