Engine Tune-up
5-2prose procedureRadiator coolant refill capacity differs between 1.6 L DOHC (D16A8/A9) and 1.6 L SOHC (D16A6/A7) engines.
Radiator Cap Testing
WARNING
System is under high pressure when engine is hot. To avoid danger of releasing scalding coolant, remove cap only when engine is cool.
- 1Remove the radiator cap, wet its seal with coolant, then install it on the pressure tester.

- 2Apply pressure of 74-103 kPa (0.75-1.05 kg/cm2, 11-15 psi).
- 3Check for a drop in pressure.
- 4If there is a drop in pressure, replace the cap.
Coolant Level Inspection
- 1Check whether the coolant level in the coolant reservoir tank is between "MAX" and "MIN".

- 2Supply the coolant reservoir tank with coolant to "MAX", if the coolant level is lower than "MIN" or near to "MIX".Use only HONDA RECOMMENDED anti-freeze / coolant. For best corrosion protection, the coolant concentration must be maintained year-round at 50% MINIMUM. Coolant concentrations less than 50% may not provide sufficient protection against corrosion or freezing.Coolant concentrations greater than 60% will impair cooling efficiency and are not recommended.
- 3See page 5-59 for refilling.
CAUTION
Do not mix different brand anti-freeze/coolants. Do not use additional rust inhibitors or antirust products; they may not be compatible with the recommended coolant.
