    Remove the pinion from the gear housing by tapping it lightly.
    Pinion being removed from the gear housing by tapping it lightly with a soft-faced hammer.

    Check the pinion lower ball bearing for play.
    Pinion ball bearing assembly with the pinion lower ball bearing and the 12 mm snap ring identified by leader lines.

    If the bearing is noisy or has excessive play, remove the 12 mm snap ring and remove the bearing using a commercially available bearing puller.
    12 mm snap ring removed and the pinion bearing pulled off with a commercially available bearing puller.
  4. 10
    Remove the four bolts from the end of the cylinder housing, then slide the housing off the rack.
    Cylinder housing slid off the rack showing exploded parts: cylinder spring, rack bushing A, O-ring (replace), back-up ring, with a torque callout for the four end bolts.
  5. 11
    Remove the cylinder housing.
