Inspection

Retractor Inspection

    With the retractor installed, check that the belt can be pulled out freely.
    Seat belt retractor shown at its mounted position with the angular test range. Illustrates that the belt should not lock up to 15 degrees from the mounted position but should lock when the retractor is leaned over 45 degrees.
  2. 2
    Make sure that the belt does not lock when the retractor is leaned slowly up to 15° from the mounted position. The belt should lock when the retractor is leaned over 45°.
    CAUTION: Do not attempt to disassemble the retractor.
  3. 3
    Replace the belt with a new one if there is any abnormality.

On-the-Car Belt Inspection

    Check that the belt is not twisted or caught on anything.
  2. 2
    After installing the anchor, check for free movement on its retaining bolt. if necessary, remove the bolt and check that the washers and other parts are not damaged or improperly installed.
  3. 3
    Check the belts for damage or discoloration. Clean with a shop towel if necessary.
    CAUTION: Use only soap and water to clean.
  4. 4
    Check that the belt does not lock when pulled out slowly. The belt is designed to lock only during a sudden stop or impact.
  5. 5
    Make sure that the belt will retract automatically when released.
  6. 6
    Replace the belt with a new one if there is any abnormality.

Rearview Mirror - Replacement

  1. 1
    Remove the rubber damper.
    Rearview mirror mounting at the top of the windshield: the base, cover, rubber damper, mounting screws and mirror assembly, with an inset detail of the mirror cover clip on the base.
  2. 2
    Pry the cover off using the end of a flat-tip screwdriver.
  3. 3
    Remove the 3 mounting screws from the mirror base, then remove the mirror assembly.
  4. 4
    Remove the base from the bracket by removing the screw.
