11-53prose procedure- 8Connect the four lines to the control unit, using flare nut wrenches.

- 9Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid and bleed air from the system by turning the steering wheel from lock to lock several times with the engine warm.
- 10Make sure there are no fluid leaks, then install the shield.

- 11Recheck the fluid level in the reservoir (page 11-27).
Steering Rack Removal
- 1Remove the steering joint cover, and disconnect the steering shaft from the gearbox.

- 2Drain the power steering fluid as described on page 11-27.
- 3Remove the gearbox shield.
- 4Using solvent and a brush, wash any oil and dirt off the control unit, its lines, and that end of the gearbox. Blow dry with compressed air.
- 5Raise the front of car and support on safety stands in the proper locations.
- 6Remove the front wheels.
- 7Disconnect the tie rods from the steering knuckles using the special tool shown.
